CipherLab Connection | September 2025: Transforming Patient Care and Nursing Workflows with CipherLab RS38H Mobile Computer

 

A leading hospital in Japan, with more than 1,700 beds nationwide, has a long tradition of patient-centered care. Yet its nursing staff and IT team were increasingly constrained by outdated tools. Nurses relied on iPods paired with dock-type barcode readers for HIS/NIS access and triple-check procedures, while also carrying separate PHS phones for communication. This fragmented setup created inefficiency, hygiene risks from hard-to-clean dock readers, and connectivity problems due to Wi-Fi-only reliance. With the nationwide phase-out of PHS, the hospital urgently needed a modern, consolidated solution that could meet both frontline and IT requirements.

 

After careful evaluation, the hospital selected CipherLab’s RS38H 5G Healthcare Touch Mobile Computer as its next-generation device. Designed specifically for healthcare, the RS38H addressed dual priorities. For Operations, its disinfectant-resistant build, low-energy LED aimer safe for patients and specimens, and glove-friendly usability ensured infection control compliance and uninterrupted workflows.
